One I notice is that I'm always asked if I know who to bench focus when I work a show not on campus. I know what nobs to move in order to change the bench focus but I'm not 100 percent sure what am doing. When Bench Focusing are you changing to get the beam angle to be in the center of the field angle? Also whats a good example what would make someone want the beam angle not to be in the center of the light?
Bench focussing is moving the lamp around in the reflector to get it correctly centered (so its F1 is centered). The time to do it is when the field is not flat because the beams are not coming straight out of the light.
ReplyDeleteBench focusing was pretty easy to do in older lights but it is annoying at best in S4's.
You do it by loosening both knobs at the back of the lights and wiggling them till you get a flat field then tightening them again
Does this make sense?
